GiriChat, step by step
Exchange text and voice notes with people who use another language. Each person chooses the language they want to read. You need internet access and must be 18 or older.
1. Create your account
Choose a username, display name, language and six-digit sign-in PIN. Read the terms and privacy notice and confirm you are an adult. Save the private recovery code displayed after registration.
2. Add someone
Open Settings using the gear button. Share your contact code with someone you know, or ask for theirs. Use Add contact and enter their code. They must accept your request.
Your contact code can be shared. Your sign-in PIN and private recovery code must be kept secret.
3. Send a message
Open a conversation, type and press Send. You see your original message. The recipient sees a translation into their chosen language when needed. A pending translation warning means the original may still be displayed.
4. Send a voice note
Press the microphone, allow microphone access and speak clearly. Send the recording when finished, or cancel it. Notes last up to 30 seconds.
The app transcribes your recording, translates the text and generates speech. The playback uses an AI-generated voice, not a copy of your voice. Read the text if audio is unavailable. Check names, numbers and important details: transcription and translation can make mistakes.
5. Start a group
Select accepted contacts when creating a group. Groups hold up to 10 people including you. Each member receives messages in their chosen language.
6. Language and notifications
Change your language and enable available notifications in Settings. Your browser must allow notifications. Earlier voice notes may not have audio in your newly selected language.
7. Recover access
Enter your username, private recovery code and a new PIN on the recovery screen. Each recovery code works once. After signing in, generate and save a replacement in Settings.
8. Your data
Download your data or delete your account in Settings. Periodic cleanup deletes messages older than 30 days. Save anything you need first. Conversations open the latest 50 messages. Select “Show older messages” to read earlier messages that are still retained.
9. Block or report
Open a conversation and choose Safety. Select a person to block or report. Blocking removes the contact and prevents new messages between you; neither of you can send to a shared group while blocked. Unblock in Settings → Safety. To report abuse, describe what happened and select Send report. Toni receives your explanation; chat history is not attached automatically. Reports are retained for up to 90 days for review. Contact toni@tonimolina.online for help or to appeal a restriction.
